Empowering young people

Building a secured future through education

Why support education

Education is the starting point of every human activity. Islam is the only religion with the Holy Scripture revealed with the instruction of education. The word “Iqra”, which was the first word during the revelation of the Quran means ‘read’ in Arabic, and that implies the concepts of learning, exploring, and seeking knowledge. This demonstrates that the way to approach the creator of all that exist is knowledge (reading). The Holy Quran puts the highest emphasis on the importance of acquiring knowledge. According to this narrative, Allah created man and provided him tools for acquiring knowledge. Therefore, any endeavour to support the cause of education is a service to the cause of Allah.

Imam Zankawah is the Chief Imam of the ancient Islamic community of Larabanga in Northern Ghana. As the hub of Islamic activities in Ghana, Larabanga is home to the oldest mosque in West Africa and the only town in Ghana with a Muslim population of over 95%.

Empower children

with Education

We were privileged to grow up under the shadow of a man whose prominence was acknowledged not only in the heart of his family, but in the eyes of an entire community. Under his guidance, all Imam Zankawah’s children and other young people under his care have been educated to higher levels in both secular and Islamic education to give them secured futures.
